This year, not only has the state of Punjab achieved the highest-ever wheat production figure of 16.4 mln MT, but also equalled the highest-ever average production of 4.7 MT per hectare.
This 16.4 mln MT is is 20% of India's expected wheat production , though Punjab has only 1.5% of India's land area.
