'Dead' woman comes alive after vehicle skids

SHIMLA: Not all road accidents lead to casualties. One accident on Monday actually brought a dead person back to life.
A vehicle carrying a body of a woman from Chandigarh to Chhadol village near Swarghat in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, skidded off the road, shook a lot and lo behold, her heart started beating again and that too after almost 24 hours of having been declared dead! Call it a miracle or destiny, but the woman, who was declared brought dead at PGI, Chandigarh, on Sunday and whose 'body' was being taken to her house for the last rites, returned to life. She was rushed to Bilaspur regional hospital in 108 ambulance service of the government, in which she was administered oxygen and necessary first aid, and was then referred back to PGI, Chandigarh, where her condition is stated to be stable.

According to official sources here, Sunita Sharma, wife of Pyare Lal, was declared brought dead atPGI Chandigarh from a private clinic. Doctors in Bilaspur are of the opinion that because of the jerk and sudden swerving of the vehicle in which the woman was being carried, perhaps the heart started beating again. It was, however, fortunate that her husband and others in the vehicle did not panic and promptly called for an ambulance due to which she got medical help.
